Please read this carefully and make sure that you follow these few simple rules!

Please write in present tense!

Every action that happens which is non spoken will stand in *:

*Climax enters the scene, taking a deep breath and looking around*

Everytime you say something put your name in front and directly behind : then a space and starting with " :

Climax: "Hey guys! Here are the guidelines for roleplaying!"

So one example could look like this :

*Climax enters the scene, taking a deep breath and looking around*

Climax: "Hey guys! Here are the guidelines for roleplaying!"

*Climax leans against the doorframe and waits for a reaction*

You can also start a fight, or stuff like that, but please do not use a user without his/her permission and let his character do things!
You can write :

*Climax slaps XY and XY falls to the ground*

but you are not allowed to write :
*Climax slaps XY who falls to the ground and then gets up and runs away like a coward*

Please stick to these rules and we all will have a lot of fun together! Wink

Reminding all the new people in the fed, how to write some good segments. Above lessons still apply after 4 season, but there's more that can help make your rps better.

Example 1 (I show improved versions below it):

*Jammu comes out to the ring*

Jammu: "Hello UWF. I'm here to challenge the infamous Great imothep to a match. He crossed me for the last time, when he interfered with my match against the PuMa! Great imothep! You are a coward and a weakling and can't take me one on one! Come and face me tonight in this very ring. In a Last blood match!"

*Jammu drops the mic and leaves the ring, while crowd cheers*

1st improvement:
*Jammu comes out to the ring*

Instead you could describe it a bit. I use normally eye of the tiger entrance music on my start description, but it could be a description of gear you're wearing, a title you're holding, what crowd is doing or even how your wrestler is feeling*

*Jammu comes out of the entrance, Wearing a black trenchcoat and holding a mic. He marches angrily to the ring, while crowd is booing*
Another way to describe stuff. Have commentators saying stuff about your wrestler:

*Jammu comes out of the entrance wearing his black trenchcoat and carrying a mic*

Jeff: "Uh, oh. Jammu looks pissed. Lets hear what he has to say."

*Jammu enters the ring and holds up his mic*

We could also improve the talk part.
Instead of writing it all together, try to break it down a bit.

Original:

Jammu: "Hello UWF. I'm here to challenge the infamous Great imothep to a match. He crossed me for the last time, when he interfered with my match against the PuMa! Great imothep! You are a coward and a weakling and can't take me one on one! Come and face me tonight in this very ring. In a Last blood match!"

It's bit long to read and lack rhyme. Try to hear how your wrestler is going to say it.
People usually make short pauses in their speeches and those pauses are good spot to start new line.

Breaking it down example:

Jammu: "Hello UWF."

Jammu: "I'm here to challenge the infamous Great Imothep to a match. He Crossed me for the last time, when he interfered with my match against the PuMa!"

Jammu: "Great Imothep! You're a coward and weakling and can't take me one on one!"

Jammu: "Come on and face me tonight in this very ring. In a last blood match!

First sentence could be little longer. Maybe cheer up or mock the crowd to emphasize heel/face status or remind that you're the current champ/no.1 contender, japans best athlete, strongest man in the world etc.

Other thing you could do is add something between some of the lines by same wrestler.
Not every between, but it is good to have some description, crowd reactions or even Commentator saying something.

Jammu: "Hello UWF and welcome to best wrestling show on the world."

*Crowd cheers*

Jammu: "I'm here to challenge the infamous Great Imothep to a match. He Crossed me for the last time, when he interfered with my match against the PuMa!"

*He looks at the entrance arena intensively*

Jammu: "Great Imothep! You're a coward and weakling and can't take me one on one!"

Jammu: "Come on and face me tonight in this very ring. In a last blood match!

The ending part could be improved as well. Commentators usually have something say about any promo people will tell:

*Jammu drops the mic and leaves the ring, while crowd cheers*

Jeff: "Did you hear that, Kyle? Jammu is gunning for the Great Imothep!"

Kyle: "Indeed. He better get ready, because it is going to get bloody soon!"

Oh and just remind everyone. What I wrote are just suggestions, the climaxes post above is the rules part.
Please read it as well, if you haven't for a while. And remember to have fun!

How to Roleplay Empty Re: How to Roleplay

Post  Ninja Thu Nov 18, 2010 2:34 am

I'm reposting this, in case you haven't seen this:

Hi everyone.
Here is a list of more or less common linguistic mistakes that appear in our RPs from time to time. Please don't consider this a criticism. I'm posting these to raise awareness and, ultimately, make our shows better.
Feel free to comment, or add, or ask questions.

Cheers,
Ninja

1. Make sure you make full stops/periods after sentences. Don't combine two sentences with a comma.
Example:
Elena: "I am standing with Hunk Masters, Hunk, you are about to face Dirty Elliot tonight, Do you have anything to say?"
Better:
Elena: "I am standing with Hunk Masters. Hunk, you are about to face Dirty Elliot tonight. Do you have anything to say?"

2. The word "crowd" is singular. Refer to them as a single entity.
Wrong: "The crowd are going wild."
Correct: "The crowd is going wild."

3. All RPs should be in present tense, as it describes actions which happen or which are seen on the show at that very moment.
Wrong: "Music played over the speaker system. John Doe appeared on stage."
Correct: "Music plays over the speaker system. John Doe appears on stage."

4. their, they're, there
These are three different words ("they're" is actually two words). Try to use the correct one.
"their" is possessive/genitive, as in "this is their house."
"they're" is short for "they are", as in "They're late for the show."
"there" is directional ("let's go there.") but is also used for the existence of something, e.g., "There is free beer at the show."
More examples:
Wrong: "This is none of there business."
Correct: "This is none of their business."
Wrong: "the best their is"
Correct: "the best there is"
Wrong: "there leaving the arena"
Correct: "they're leaving the arena"

5. E vs. A
Wrong: "tournement", "opponant", "messege"
Correct: "tournament", "opponent", "message"

6. then vs. than
"then" is used for actions that follow, e.g., "he looks at the crowd, then enters the ring"
"than" is used in comparisons, e.g., "it's easier to challenge than to defend"

7. Apostrophee
Don't forget the apostrophee.
Wrong: "dont say that"
Correct: "don't say that"
Wrong: "he wont accept it"
Correct: "he won't accept it"

8. Names
Some names seem to "attract" typos.
Wrong: "Dragonstien", "The Gingerbread Manianc" or "The Gingbread Maniac"
Correct: "DragonStein", "The Gingerbread Maniac"

9. Capitalization
Only words at the beginning of a sentence and names are capitalized. We also capitalize trademark and finishing wrestling moves that have their own names, e.g., "He hits him with a Fire Spin.". Or names of titles, e.g., "he holds the Universal Championship belt".
Wrong: "Well guys and Girls"
Correct: "Well, guys and girls"
Wrong: "The Crowd goes wild"
Correct: "The crowd goes wild"

10. Comma
Use a comma when you address others with their names.
Wrong: "Is that an offical challenge Hunk?"
Correct: "Is that an official challenge, Hunk?"
Wrong: "Danny let's go."
Correct: "Danny, let's go."
